The Problems… We Inherited from our Predecessor in 2012

Before 2012, Porvorim constituency was facing major issues when it came to garbage and sewage waste disposal. It was a common site in Porvorim that street corners had turned into garbage dumping sites. Even the sewage disposed in soak pits and septic tanks were in danger of leaking into the ground water table of the constituency. Endangering the lives of thousands of citizens.

What we Achieved 2016?

Garbage management
Not depending on the ruling government, we took it upon ourselves to solve the garbage issue the constituency faced. The residents co-operated and supported us in our every step. We identified that there was a lack of waste management plan in the constituency. So our very first step was to formulate one, we named it ‘Nital Porvorim’.
Initiatives implemented under ‘Nital Porvorim’

  • Door to door collection of garbage
  • Segregation of waste
  • Garden waste collection
  • Street cleaning programs
  • Tricycle marshals
  • Night soil tanker provided at a subsidised rate to all residents regularly
  • Awareness camps (on garbage management) and various other activities

Infrastructure Built under ‘Nital Porvorim’

  • Comprehensive sewerage network built in and nearby areas of Porvorim (Rs. 285 crores spent)
  • Segregation yards (garbage)
  • Public toilets
